Atherosclerosis

Diagnosis and Therapy

  Novel risk factor

Cardiovascular diseases including heart attack are responsible for maximum numbers of human death (ca. 17 million) due to a "non-infectious" agent. Novel risk factors with high correlation to the disease are needed for early diagnosis of cardiac complications. The world annual market for cardiovascular drugs is estimated at US$ 40 billion. Recently a new proteinaceous factor has been identified which has shown the potential to be one of the best correlated factor to cardiac arrest. Apart from its use in in-vitro diagnosis, this factor may be used for the development of novel therapeutic drugs and vaccines against heart attack.

Production of Athero-X Antigen for in-vitro diagnosis

Lionex is involved in the production of this antigen for in-vitro diagnosis. Our aim is to produce standard high quality antigen for diagnostic use.
